Disciples in Mission update for 06/06/2008:

Dear friends in Cluster 21:

Happy early Summer to you!  I hope and pray you are doing well.

I wanted to send this message again to thank you for all of your efforts at promoting, participating and implementing Disciples in Mission in our cluster parishes for Lent 2008.  As you are aware, we will also be offering the program for Lent 2009 and in a couple of months, will be asking if you can help to plan ahead for next year!!

Several weeks ago, I sent you a message pertaining to our Cluster Reflection Day and have posted the announcement in the parish bulletins for the past few weeks. Our day is less than two weeks away!

The Cluster Reflection Day is intended for all people who have been a part of Disciples in Mission for Lent 2008 and also all Parish Pastoral Council leaders, as well as any other interested parishioners who would like to attend.  We are hoping for a good turnout with wide-representation of all five parishes!  We will take time during the meeting not only to reflect on our DM program, but more specifically to focus on Evangelization, which is a vital part of our life in our Catholic parish communities.

Once again, I ask for your help:

1.  Please attend the Cluster Reflection Day on June 14 from 9am-12:00noon in Cathedral Guild Hall and spread the word to all you know who may be interested in attending.

2.  Please encourage the members of your small groups to attend.  Could you please follow-up with them by a personal phone call and ask them to attend this important gathering?

3.  If you have not already responded to the Evaluation that I sent out, please take the time to do this.  (see the form in the left column of this page)  The majority of our attendees did not fill one out.  This feedback is important for our cluster and for the diocese as well.  Once all the data is gathered, it will be forwarded to Ruth Oakley at the Chancery.

4.  If you would like to help with the Reflection Day, we can use help in the following areas.  Please call me at 773-0748 if you can help:
a.  Set-up tables and chairs
b.  Hospitality - help set-up drinks (coffee, water, perhaps some juice for that morning)
c.  Be a small group facilitator during the meeting - we will break up into small groups to reflect on some focus questions pertaining to our goal for YEAR 1.

Thank you for your time and attention!

Sharing in the Lord's ministry,

Fr. Kevin J. Martin

PS If you know of someone who should receive this message, please send them the link.  THANKS!!

"Disciples in Mission" is the spiritual and prayer component of the New Evangelization and is a wonderful means to help all of us to grow in faith and interact with others in our communities of faith.

It is primarily intended to help foster community and promote faith-sharing between individuals and families based on the Sunday Scripture readings. It is a three year, six week series based on the Sunday readings for the Lenten Season.  During this coming Lent 2008, our parishes in cluster 21 will begin the program with Year I. We will also have the opportunity to continue with the program with Year II in 2009 and Year III in 2010.
